It is often necessary when reading music arranged for various instruments such as Violin, Mandolin, Piano, Voice etc., where the notes are written very low to play them an octave higher than written. This is termed transposing an octave. Transposing any other distance such as 34,6tl1 etc. changes the key and is more difficult. |
